Mr. Shawhan is an Associate Attorney with Ryan Carvalho LLP and litigates personal injury and construction defect matters and is licensed in California and Nevada. Prior to relocating to San Diego, Mr. Shawhan worked in his home state for Nevada Legal Services, the only statewide non-profit providing free legal services to the indigent, veterans and seniors. He worked throughout Northern Nevada communities and practiced housing and consumer law. This included advising and counseling clients on land sale and rent-to-own agreements, foreclosures, bankruptcies, tenants’ rights and creditor and debtor rights.
Mr. Shawhan graduated from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 2018. While attending law school, Mr. Shawhan externed for the Hon. James A. Robertson, II in the Complex Civil Litigation Department at the San Francisco Superior Court. He also participated in the Mediation Clinic– a program of the nationally recognized Center for Negotiation and Dispute Resolution– where he conducted weekly mediations at the San Francisco Superior Court, Small Claims Court. Mr. Shawhan’s journal article, “Legalizing Federal Sports Gambling Laws: You’ve Got to Know When to Hold’em” was published by the Hastings Communications and Entertainment Journal (Volume 40, Number 1 (2018)). He also served as the Executive Development Editor for the Hastings Business Law Journal, as President of the Hastings Food and Wine Law Society, and as a second and third year student body representative of the Associated Students of U.C. Hastings.
Prior to law school Mr. Shawhan was a certified United States Professional Tennis Association professional tennis instructor and taught at Anthem Country Club (Henderson, NV) and at Tiburon Peninsula Club (Tiburon, CA). Mr. Shawhan graduated cum laude with a major in Communication with an emphasis in Sports, Business and Media from the University of Southern California.

In Mr. Shawhan’s free time you can find him outdoors soaking up the sun; either in the mountains or on the beach, competing and instructing tennis, running, swimming, surfing, snowboarding or practicing yoga.
